HISTORY
Gossner College was established in November, 1971 by our Founder Principal Rt. Reverend Dr. Nirmal Minz. Gossner College is a Minority College, affiliated to Ranchi University and is managed by Gossner Evangelical Lutheran Church (GELC) of Chotanagpur and Assam.

MISSION
Our mission is to provide the vista of university education to the deserving students coming from socially, economically backward and underprivileged communities of this region, particularly the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and other Backward Communities. Preference is given to students from these communities. However, since the college is situated in the heart of Ranchi (Jharkhand, India), students of other communities and regions may also apply.

OBJECTIVES
The prime objective is to give the young Tribal Christian students of Jharkhand the opportunity to arm themselves with knowledge that higher education can provide in a Christian atmosphere.

Besides academic excellence the college is also known for excellence in Games and Sports. The college has to its credit students who have represented at the District/State/Zonal/National and International level in various events, notable amongst them are Sumrai Tete (Captain) Women's Team India-Hockey, Bimal Lakra, Team India-Hockey and Mahendra Singh Dhoni Team India-Cricket.

Other than conventional courses Gossner College with the approval of the UGC/HRD and Ranchi University offers Vocational Courses such as: - i) B.Sc. Computer (Hons.) ii)Information Technology iii)Bio-Technology iv)B.B.A
